Na wystawie zaprezentowane zostaną prace z najnowszej serii zatytułowanej „Spękania”, które powstawały od początku 2017 roku. Obrazy te to swoiste eksperymenty z formą malarską, poprzez które artysta poszukuje granicy między sztuką przedstawiającą i abstrakcyjną.
Spękania jakiejś formy lub materiału świadczą o jej zniszczeniu lub zużyciu, jednak powstałe w ten sposób siatki, nierzadko posiadają w sobie wiele nieoczywistego piękna. Część prac wykonana została tradycyjną techniką olejną na płótnie, podczas gdy inne to obiekty quasi-rzeźbiarskie powstałe w wyniku połączenia rożnego rodzaju mediów artystycznych oraz naturalnych składników (np. ziemi, piasku, żwiru). Jak mówi sam artysta: „Ze względu na wykorzystane środki obrazy te wciąż „pracują”. Proces ich tworzenia trwa i kompozycje te zapewne z czasem ulegną przeminie. Zmiany te są więc nie tylko planowane, ale wręcz pożądane.”

Malarz i historyk sztuki. Ukończył PLSP w Koszalinie ze specjalizacją sztuk użytkowych (snycerstwo). Edukację kontynuował na Uniwersytecie Gdańskim i po 5 latach nauki uzyskał tytuł magistra historii sztuki. Uprawia głównie malarstwo abstrakcyjne. Jego prace znajdują się w kolekcjach w kraju i za granicą (Niemcy, Dania, Francja, Australia, USA, Kurdystan (Irak).

Every day we see broken pavements or cracked walls of buildings. In winter, cracks are found on thick layers of ice, and in the summertime, they form on dried earth. These cracked networks are extremely diverse – vertical, horizontal, diagonal, shallow or deep. Sometimes they are arranged rhythmically, and sometimes their distribution is completely chaotic and accidental. Although they may seem similar to each other, they are always unique.
Similarly, I tried to create paintings that fall into two groups. In the first I focus on the pure painting layer; these are traditionally understood paintings created with oil on canvas. The basis for these works are dozens of photos of cracks that I have been making throughout last year. In my mind I created a fusion of all the photographic sketches and transformed them into completely new forms. The second group of artworks I refer to as „structural”. They are experimental in nature and, they are created using various natural and synthetic materials such as soil, sand, gravel, salt, adhesives and alcohol. The wealth of texture that I managed to achieve with these paintings gives them a bas-relief. Due to the mediums used, the images are still „working”. The process of their creation is ongoing and the compositions will probably change over time. Changes are therefore not only planned, but also even desirable.
Dilan Abdulla (born 1987 in Bialystok) is a painter and art historian. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Koszalin with a specialisation in applied arts (woodcarving). He continued his education at the University of Gdańsk and after five years of study he obtained a Master’s Degree in Art History. He mainly creates abstract paintings. His works can be found in collections in Poland and abroad (Germany, Denmark, France, Australia, USA, and Kurdistan (Iraq)).
